What could a listing leave out?

A polished listing or a seller-supplied report may not give you the full picture. Independent checks help you ask better questions.

01

Altered mileage

A low odometer reading may conflict with earlier service or diagnostic entries.

02

An edited report

A screenshot may be altered, incomplete or for another VIN. Run your own independent check.

03

Undisclosed damage

A tempting price and clean photos may conceal an accident or previous repairs.

04

Unknown battery condition

Dashboard range alone does not establish an EV battery’s health.

Use the VIN to check available records independently, then inspect the actual car before you make a purchase decision.

HOW THE EVIDENCE IS MADE

Where does the information come from?

Each check relies on a different kind of evidence. Open a source to see what it can show and where its limits are.

Industry data context: China Automobile Dealers Association (CADA). Vehicle-level sources depend on the report.
01Vehicle specifications

Manufacturers submit model technical information for China’s vehicle approval process. Where available, vehicle-specific build data helps compare a particular car with the seller’s description. Model approval data alone does not establish every factory option.

02Mileage history

Available readings may be recorded during service, maintenance or diagnostic work. A time-ordered comparison can reveal discrepancies; not every workshop visit enters the accessible data.

03Battery health assessment

Where supported, available charging and battery data can be analysed to estimate battery condition. This is an algorithmic estimate, not a physical capacity test; coverage and data dates matter.

04Accident and insurance claims

Available incident and insurance claim records can flag reported damage. Unreported, privately repaired or unavailable incidents may not appear, so a clean record is not proof of no accident.

05ChaBoShi physical inspection

A trained inspector uses professional tools to examine the actual vehicle and records findings within the selected inspection package. The report describes the vehicle at the time of inspection.

A PRACTICAL BUYING PROCESS

Three checks. A clearer decision.

The strongest picture combines past records, present condition and the features you will actually use.

01

Check the VIN online

Screen the available specification, mileage, battery and claims information before committing to a vehicle.

02

Inspect the car in person

Arrange ChaBoShi to examine the actual vehicle in China under the agreed inspection package.

03

Test everyday functions

Operate the air conditioning, audio, windows, cameras, seats, charging and other features that matter to you.

Small functional faults may fall outside history reports and inspection packages. Test them before export so issues can be addressed in China. If the car is still under warranty, qualifying repairs may be covered. A trusted contact in China can help; if you do not have one, ZEEX AUTO can coordinate all three checks.

READ THE RESULT

Use each check for what it can tell you.

A report helps you make a more informed choice. The presence, depth and timing of records differ from vehicle to vehicle.

01

Compare the VIN and report date with the actual car.

02

Follow up on gaps or inconsistencies with the seller.

03

Pair record checks with a physical inspection and a functional test.

SEE BEFORE YOU QUERY

Explore the report format.

Each tool page displays a sample when one is available. Preview the format before making a query; actual records depend on the vehicle and data coverage.

HOW TO BEGIN

A clear next step for every check.

Online queries and on-site inspections use different information and schedules.

For online VIN checks

Choose a tool, enter the required vehicle information, review its credit cost and submit. View the available result on the tool page.

For physical inspection

Send the vehicle VIN, location and seller contact. Availability, inspection scope, timing and cost are confirmed before an appointment.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions before you check

The important distinctions when you are buying from overseas.

Why check the VIN if the seller already sent a report?

An independent query helps you check that the data relates to the right VIN and compare it with what the seller sent. Different dates or data coverage can also produce differences.

How is an online check different from an on-site inspection?

Online checks look for available recorded history or analysed data. An on-site inspection examines the vehicle as it exists on the day of the appointment, within the chosen package.

Does no accident record mean the car has never been damaged?

No. An incident may never have been reported, claimed or included in accessible data. Ask for an inspection when current physical condition matters.

Is the battery health result a physical test?

The online result is an assessment based on available data. It should not be treated as a direct physical capacity test or a guarantee of future performance.

Will an inspection test the air conditioning and audio?

Only the items listed in the specific inspection package are included. Arrange a separate everyday-function test for anything else you need checked.

Can I check a car if I am outside China?

Yes. You can start an online check with the required vehicle information. An on-site inspection also requires the car’s location and access arranged with the seller.
