Check the identifiers
Compare the complete VIN, report date, provider name and any report number with the vehicle and original document. Cropped screenshots hide context, so request the full file or a provider verification link when available.
Run your own check
A fresh search using the VIN you confirmed on the vehicle reduces reliance on a seller-provided image. Results can differ when data has updated or two products cover different sources, so investigate discrepancies instead of assuming one result is automatically wrong.
Keep an evidence trail
Save the original seller report, your independently ordered result and photos of the VIN. Record when each was obtained. If the car is valuable or disputed, add an independent physical inspection before payment.
