Cookie & Browser Storage Policy

The essential storage used for sign-in and preferences, optional site analytics, and how to manage your choices.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored by a website. Local storage is a separate browser technology that can also retain information between visits. This policy covers both, even where a feature uses local storage rather than a cookie.

Account authentication

The user website stores a sign-in token in local storage under the key “token”. It is used to authenticate requests for account and query services. Signing out removes it; the app also removes it when the authentication process identifies an invalid or expired session.

Local storage has no automatic browser expiry. The token may remain until it is removed by the application or you clear site data; the server may reject it earlier when its validity ends.

Language preference

The “i18nextLng” local storage item records the interface language and is used when requesting translated content. It remains until replaced or removed. A language-specific route may also determine the language shown.

Analytics, advertising and external services

With your permission, first-party analytics records recognised page paths, device type, source category, recognised UTM source/medium categories, tool-link clicks, tool visits, authentication prompts and successful sign-ins, query submissions and success/failure categories, actual report views, download clicks and fetch outcomes. Optional event fields include a recognised tool, a fixed failure-reason category, integer duration in milliseconds (up to one hour), highest scroll depth (0–100), a random page identifier for combining incremental engagement, and a browser first-session/returning/unknown category. Active page time includes only visible periods with interaction in the last 60 seconds; initial-load timing comes from the browser navigation measurement. Only recognised utm_source and utm_medium categories are retained; raw values, campaign names, keywords and other query parameters are excluded, as are VINs, emails, account IDs and full URLs. We estimate country, region and city from the request IP using a local server database; this is an approximate network location, not a street address or GPS location. The analytics table does not store raw IP addresses, and IPs are not sent to an external geolocation API. Server access logs are separate. Cookie settings near the footer let you decline or withdraw consent without affecting sign-in or queries. Do Not Track disables collection. Raw events are deleted after approximately 90 days. De-identified aggregate statistics may be retained long term without browser, session, page or event identifiers; aggregated statistics are not claimed to be absolutely anonymous. Reports are accessible only to administrators. A successful download event means the file response was received; it does not confirm a file was saved on your device.

Local storage keeps cvr.analytics.consent (your choice and expiry), backed up by the essential, host-only cvr_cookie_choice cookie. Acceptance and refusal both last 180 days from your selection; sign-in and sign-out do not reset the choice. Existing choices are retained and assigned this expiry when upgraded. If both storage methods are blocked, your choice lasts only while this page remains open. After consent, cvr.analytics.visitor stores a random browser identifier, and cvr.analytics.firstSession stores its first known session to distinguish browser first visits from returns; withdrawing consent or expiry removes both when the site next checks your choice. Session storage keeps cvr.analytics.session, cvr.analytics.attribution and cvr.analytics.last until the tab closes or consent is withdrawn. Sessions renew after 30 minutes of inactivity. Identifiers are hashed on the server and are not linked to your account. These are pseudonymous statistics, not a count of identifiable people.

External websites reached through links operate under their own policies. A link does not itself mean their cookies are installed by this website.

Managing browser storage

You can sign out to remove the account token. To clear other stored items, use your browser’s site-data settings for this website. Controls vary by browser and may need to be applied separately on each device.

Clearing site data may sign you out and reset preferences. It does not delete account, report or transaction records held on our servers. For personal information requests, see our Privacy Policy or email info@chinavinreport.com.
