Data Sources & Report Limitations
Understand the evidence behind a vehicle report and the gaps it cannot resolve.

Sources and coverage
Online checks use Chinese vehicle data providers to retrieve available information for the submitted VIN. Data categories vary by service, including factory specifications, mileage, battery information and insurance claims. See Data Sources & Methodology for the scope of each check.
Access through a data provider does not imply that China VIN Report is a government body, manufacturer or insurance authority, or that such organisations endorse our service. Coverage varies by vehicle, provider and recorded history.
No record does not mean no event
An event may be absent because it was not reported, was privately repaired, falls outside accessible databases or has not yet been added. No matching claims do not prove a vehicle has never been damaged. No mileage alert does not guarantee the odometer is accurate.
Record dates, caching and translations
Reports may contain historical records and may reuse stored successful query results. A new query timestamp does not necessarily mean all underlying data was newly retrieved or updated. Review source dates where provided.
Third-party records may be incomplete, delayed, duplicated or corrected later. Translated summaries may contain errors or lose context; check the original material and ask for clarification on important discrepancies.
What a report cannot certify
A VIN match does not verify ownership or rule out identity cloning. Model-level specifications may not confirm every option fitted to a particular vehicle. Battery estimates are not physical capacity tests or guarantees of remaining life.
Reports do not establish roadworthiness, future reliability, market value or eligibility for export, import, registration or insurance. Those questions require separate evidence and the relevant authority or professional assessment.
Combine records with physical checks
Use online records alongside original documents, seller disclosures and an independent physical inspection. Test everyday functions such as air conditioning, audio, cameras, charging, windows and keys while the vehicle is accessible.
A physical inspection is itself limited to the agreed scope and the condition at the time of inspection. No single check eliminates every purchasing risk.
Questions and corrections
If a result appears incorrect, email info@chinavinreport.com with the query reference, VIN and relevant supporting information. We will review the query and seek provider clarification where appropriate; we cannot guarantee that a third-party source record can be amended.
These limitations explain data scope. They do not override the purchased service description or remove responsibilities and rights under applicable law.
